In-Reach, Our Business Newsletter

A message from our CEO

Welcome to the first edition of InReach, our new company newsletter. Our objective is to share with you what is happening across our UK businesses, it will also be an opportunity for you to learn more about people that you might not normally get the chance to meet or speak to. Hopefully there will be some fun elements to it you will enjoy too.

There is a lot happening within our UK businesses, in this edition of InReach you will hear about just a few, including the launch of a new division, exciting new products we are bringing to market and you will see some new names (and pictures!) of people who have joined us and some who have taken on new roles.

Its been over a year now since the Impact Group was acquired by Aprolis, its been a busy time and I am pleased to say the integration with our French colleagues has gone very well, we find ourselves within a wider group that shares our ambitions for growth and as we share the same business model we are all working towards the same goals. You will begin to see the Aprolis Logo appear more in the near future, you should be aware we are now part of a growing European platform of businesses that currently include France, Spain and the UK, with more countries to follow.

Within the UK we are seeing our customers continue to place high levels of demands on us, whether that is for new or used equipment, short term rental, service repairs or Industrial door support, this means despite the potential doom and gloom around we are in a good position to continue to perform well.

In July we launched a series of measures to help people, I am pleased to say that the employee benefits hub mentioned in the letter is on track to be launched and will be available during September, a local team of champions will help the launch to ensure everyone gets the most from the hub.

I am especially pleased to see the high number of people who have taken up the BUPA cash plan, remember this is free to you and can help you claim back money for a host of medical related items, if you have not already I would encourage you to sign up.

As we look to the final months of 2022 we can see a very busy period with good levels of business in all areas of our businesses, I would like to thank everyone for their continued efforts and support. I look forward to hearing your feedback about this and future editions of InReach!

Quick fire questions with Glynn Holland

Glynn is head of equipment preparation for the whole group

Has anything embarrassing happened to you at work?

I damaged a roller shutter door trying to finish work on time and ended up being two hours late because I had to wait for it to be repaired.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The continuous improvement of the quality and throughput in equipment preparation.

Have you or your department implemented anything positive to help the business?

When I started here, everything had to be done manually. But, since they implemented utilisation on autoline, the team and I were able to majorly improve performance in the workshop. Also, since they introduced a second person to do the pre delivery inspection, it has  increased the quality of trucks we put out the door.

Is there anything you do in your personal time which helps you be a better leader?

In my spare time I try to get out as much as possible as it helps me to destress, think outside the box and picture things from a different place. At work in a hectic office, this can be challenging. I am still working on myself to become a better leader.

What is your favourite pastime?

My favourite pastime is endurance mountain biking. I have an e-bike though because I’m getting old. Three years ago, I did a charity ride from London to Brighton with the Impact team which was hard work but good fun.

Tell me a fact that people don’t know about you?

I am an amateur rally driver with numerous championship wins. In Zimbabwe I spent my time building up a rally car. Eventually I bought the car and used it to race in multiple rally races in Canada, Kenya and Zimbabwe and became a champion in the 2-litre race.

Outside of Work

Trevor Warren (Grant Handling) Hosts Charity Event and Football Match to Raise Money for young girl with Leukaemia

This May, Trevor Warren, Area Sales Manager and Chairman of Devils FC football club, raised money for a charity to support Anaya, aged 7 with Leukaemia. Anaya is a sibling to one of the team members of Trevor’s U10’s team. As the Moto at Devils FC is ‘stronger together’, Trevor wanted to host a series of events including a football match and a raffle to raise money for Momentum, a charity which supports families whose children have cancer. The club raised £5700 which was split between Momentum and UNICEF to support the children in Ukraine.

Trevor explains, as Anaya was coming to the end of her treatment, the family were struggling not knowing if it had worked or not. I felt like this would be a great opportunity to bring everybody at the football club together to show their support for the family and to show others they can rely on the club for support. We are also delighted to say she has since been diagnosed cancer free!
